Welcome back to
another day with Guiding Light
at our island paradise, Seabird Key.
We began taping this morning at 8:30
a.m., which means everyone was on the island by 7:30am. It takes about 4 to 5 boat trips
to get everyone to the island.
Our first scenes up today took place
at Seabird Key's own
weathered dinghy. This was the only
major prop piece that was already a part of the island and did not need to be sent from
New York. This location was very near the dock where our boats were stationed and we had
to be very careful about the scheduling of our boat transport.
We reached our next set up, a coral
ledge of the island, around 10:00 a.m. This is also the time we experienced the highest
concentration of air traffic over the island. After a visit to the airport we learned
there was a scenic bi-plane tour that took off every 20 minutes. In addition, a pilot was
practicing "touch and gos" and flew over our island at least 10 times.
The scenes at the coral ledge
required some live fish. Our Art Director, Rick Dennis, went fishing, but unfortunately
all he came up with was a sand shark! In other fishing news, one of the caterers decided
to wade in the water and had a close encounter with a barracuda. We're still not sure who
was more startled, but they both took off in opposite directions.
The CBS Miami affiliate, WFOR spent
several hours with us today. They drove down from Miami to interview Paul Rauch, Kim
Zimmer, and Bill Bumiller. They also shot B-roll (behind the scenes footage) for their
5:00 p.m. news.
Taping finished today at 7:00 p.m.
Even with all the interruptions from plane and boat noise we ended up right on schedule.
We're more than half way through with
the shoot, and are eager for more fun in the sun.
