Welcome to our second
day of taping Reva's High Sea Adventure.
We started the day at 7:30 a.m.
preparing for our first scenes, which were aerial shots. Director Jo Anne Sedwick and a
three-man crew met a helicopter at the Marathon airport and flew to the island. The first
shot was an aerial of Kim lying face down in the water. After a few takes we hurried onto
the boats and headed out to sea. Behind us we towed "Sean's boat" which was
designed by our Art Director, Rick Dennis, built in the studio, and then shipped down to
Florida.
Here's a picture of Rick riding in
his boat making sure it's safe for Kim and Bill. The wind was really strong today, which
caused a very rocky boat ride. Once we got far enough off shore we transferred Kim and
Bill into the prop boat and left them drifting while we moved far enough away for the
helicopter to get some isolated shots.
After completing the helicopter
shots, we headed back to the island to prepare for the rest of the day's shoot on the
beach. Before we started taping again we had lunch prepared by the world's best location
caterer, Buddy De Vingo, and his crew from My Buddy's Catering. Everyone has been raving
for the last two days about how good the food has been. We are all looking forward to
mealtime!
As you can see from this picture,
Linda Williams, our Hairstylist, and Helen Gallagher, our Makeup Artist, took this time to
touch-up Kim. Helen used makeup to create the cut on Reva's leg from the plane crash as
well as other cuts and bruises she suffered in her struggle to get off the island.
Due to the high winds we experienced
today, an extraordinary amount of seaweed washed up on the beach. A group was quickly
organized to rake and clean up the beach so taping could begin.
The seaweed was deposited on a
compost pile. The island collects all the seaweed that washes up and turns it into
fertilizer for all the landscaping they do.
In today's beach scenes, Reva built
her shelter and established a home base. Reva's shelter was also shipped from our studio
and assembled on the beach. The scenes went smoothly and everyone worked on their tans in
the beautiful weather. The wind must have carried the music from the tiki bar in the other
direction because we didn't hear one beat of it today.
What we did hear was the
generator that gave power to our control room. The generator is located on a barge just
off shore and the site we were planning on using for Reva and Sean's picnic was near the
edge of the island. At the last minute we walked the island to find another area the scene
could take place. The area was quickly dressed and the equipment moved and the rest of
taping went off without a hitch. We finished taping on time at 9:45 p.m.
We had a great day on Seabird Key and
hope you're enjoying watching.
