A Message From Bill Bumiller

Last night, as the sun set, we regrouped at the hotel for dinner where Kim Zimmer met her new mystery man for the first time. The character of Sean is being played by Bill Bumiller, an actor from Los Angeles who has just come off a film set in Vancouver, Canada. Kim and Bill bonded immediately and in a short period of time even figured out that Bill had gone to the same college as Kim's husband.

Now it's Sunday morning and we're finally ready to roll. The tech crew started at 8:00 a.m. running cables throughout the island to connect all of our locations with the control room. The owners of the island stopped by for a visit and stayed to watch us tape our first couple of scenes. It must have been a little disconcerting for them to see 40 people scrambling around their secluded island.

Our first set up on the island was the beach. The weather forecast did not look good! Thank goodness our prop department packed the lovely orange rain ponchos you'll see in the picture to the left which was taken during the taping of our first scene. That's Kim—what a trouper—lying in the water during the rainstorm while the rest of us tried to stay dry. Don't worry, we had a dry robe waiting for her off set.

We continued shooting and the rain eventually let up. The only snag we hit

was in the late afternoon when music from a live band at a tiki bar on the mainland came pounding across the water to our "deserted" island. The bar was quite a distance from our island, but between the water and the wind the music hit us head on. A visit to the tiki bar was not extremely successful, as they had been advertising this band all week. They also informed us they have another band scheduled for tomorrow. Finally we broke for dinner and by the time we started taping our night scenes, the band had stopped playing.

After dinner it was time to shoot our night scenes of Reva swimming in the lagoon. Our director, Jo Anne Sedwick preceded Kim into the water. She has never asked her actors to do anything she is not willing to do herself, so she waded around in water up to her waist.

One camera was positioned on a dock and another on a boat shooting back at the shore. The wind had picked up by this point and it was quite cool out. Kim decided it was much warmer submerged in the water rather than having any part of her exposed to the cool air. Everyone on the dock kept their eyes out for stingrays and any other water hazards. Luckily Kim made it through the shoot without incident.

Our first day finished around 11:30 p.m. and everyone headed to the hotel for some well-deserved rest.
